Third Question: Why are People Doing Things That Lead to Obesity?
Suffering from lack of sleep-
Deprivation motivates people to choose junk food over other foods that are healthier for them. When sleep is restricted the primal reward centre of the brain becomes more active while the functions of the frontal lobe become more suppressed. This effectively destroys the amount of will power making people more likely to seek out foods high in fat and sugar, which means the logically poor choices are made that then affects the person’s health in many ways.
Developing addictions-
People choose to eat junk foods simply because they have developed a mild physical dependence on food. Studies show that addictive foods in high sugar or fat results in neurochemical changes in the brain similar to someone addicted to drugs. Accordingly to a study in phycology and behaviour, rats would eat food that is high in sugar and fat and mentally they would crave more of those substances and would have withdrawal symptoms they cannot eat high fat and sugar foods.
Choosing Convenience-
People eat bad food just because of convince and of travel time. A way to avoid this is to have someone prompt you to make a healthy meal.
Easing Anxiety-

Forth Question: How Does Obesity Impact Upon Our Well Being?
How does obesity impact upon your well-being?
Social: They might not have any confidence in themselves when they're at school and in public. They could have no friends since they never try to socialise because they think of their size. Obese people tend to stay at home and not socialise.
Physical: They have difficulties when doing different types of physical activities because of their weight. When they can't do many sports or physical activities they get teased by other people because they are obese and so they think they can't do it which the causes poor self-esteem. Many obese people are afraid to do physical activities as they might be laughed at or could suffer a heart attack or other medical conditions. This tends to force obese people to do less activities and stay on the couch.
Mental: The consequence of being overweight has a negative effect mentally. Many obese children and adults suffer from being socially discriminated against and have low self-esteem. This can lead to people having very negative thoughts about themselves and can eventually lead to depression, violence and suicide. Some obese people are very heavily medicated, which has a side affect of weight gain. This becomes a vicious cycle for many obese people.
